The mandate of the Oil and Gas Industry Development Council (Council) is to assist Government in developing a long-term vision and implementation framework for the future development of the NL oil and gas industry, with a focus on developing a more sustainable and competitive industry, while ensuring that NL residents and businesses are the principal beneficiaries of our offshore resource development over the full life cycle of all project developments.
The Council will consist of ten members with three of those members fixed as follows:
The remaining seven members of the Council will be made of up representatives with a diverse mix of skills and experience and will be determined using a merit-based process as a Tier 2 entity added to Schedule C of the Public Service Commission Act.
Those who make up the Council should collectively possess the following core competencies:
All individuals appointed to the Council are expected to hold the following requisite competencies and experiences:
Members of the Council should be available to meet on a quarterly basis at a minimum, but more frequently if determined by the Chair. Any applicable working groups of the Council would meet on an as-needed basis. Board members may also be expected to spend additional time to review materials and prepare for Board and Committee meetings.
Members of the Council are appointed by the Minister of Natural Resources for a minimum of one year.
The Council is seeking to fill three positions with expression of interest being sought from individuals who possess the background, experience and skill set identified in the board profile.
