A review board (chosen from the Panel) would likely be convened when a participating physician, dentist or professional medical corporation disagrees with the findings of an audit. The review board shall make a report to the Minister containing its findings and the report shall also contain recommendations.
The composition of the Review Panel shall reflect the cultural, ethnic, and regional diversity of the province.
The Lieutenant-Governor in Council shall appoint a panel of not more than 15 persons to act as members of review boards as follows:
• at least five persons shall be medical practitioners selected from a list of nominees provided by the medical association
• at least two persons shall be dentists selected from a list of nominees provided by the dental association
Diversity in the backgrounds, skills, and experience of an appointed member can enhance the effectiveness of the Panel by bringing a wide range of perspectives and knowledge. Examples may include:
• Knowledge of the Medical Care and Hospital Insurance Act
• Legal expertise: familiarity with healthcare and insurance law
• Business acumen: understand and interpret financial reports and data
• Analytical skills: analyze clinical, legal, and financial data
• Communication skills: facilitate discussion and articulate Board decisions
• Leadership skills: lead and motivate others towards achieving the Board’s decisions and vision

• Experience in professional self-regulation
• Legal and regulatory expertise

Members are only required if there is a disciplinary issue.
The members of the Panel shall be appointed for a term of three years and are eligible for reappointment.
Where the term of a member of the Panel expires, he or she continues to be a member until reappointed or replaced.
