One public representative is required per panel based upon availability. Those who participate in hearings often have to commit several sequential days and then as needed for further dates. Dates for meetings are set by consensus but must accommodate the full panel.
Of the members first appointed to the disciplinary panel, one half will be appointed for a term of two years and the remainder for a term of three years and all subsequent appointments of members will be for a term of three years. Notwithstanding the term of his or her term, a member of the panel continues to be a member until he or she is re-appointed or his or her replacement is appointed. Persons appointed to the panel may be reappointed.
Members of the disciplinary panel shall serve on the panel without payment for their services, but may be remunerated for service as a member of an adjudication tribunal and paid their travel and other expenses associated with the work of that tribunal by the council, in accordance with and at the rates set by the by-laws.
The Council of the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking to fill up to 10 positions to represent the public interest on the disciplinary panel as the terms of 10 ministerial appointments expired on February 12, 2016. Expressions of interest are being sought from individuals who possess the background, experience and skill-set identified in the board profile above and who can bring unique perspectives to the table. Consideration will also be given to a variety of demographic factors to ensure the board is representative of the population they serve.
