Purpose:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre (NLSC) is overseen by a Board of Directors reporting to the Minister. The Board of Directors will work with the facility manager towards offering a high performance multi-sport training facility where administrators, coaches and athletes of all ages will have access to unparalleled expertise and a full range of comprehensive and integrated support services to supplement the use of high quality equipment, facilities and partnerships.

Structure:

• The Board will be composed of no more than 13 members including: two (2) representatives of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador; two (2) representatives of the Swiler’s Rugby Club; and two (2) representatives of the City of St. John’s;
• Nominations to the Minister are made by the above three (3) entities for each of their respective two (2) representatives; the Minister then makes a recommendation to the Lieutenant-Governor in Council for appointment ;
• The Lieutenant-Governor in Council shall appoint six additional members, one of which will be a member of the executive or designate of the Department; and
• The Lieutenant-Governor in Council shall appoint the Chair of the Board.

• strong reasoning skills

Time Commitments:

Members of the ABC should be available to meet four times per year. Board members may also be expected to spend additional time to review materials and prepare for Board and Committee meetings.

Term:

The term of the board members is three years.   Subsection 175(6) of the Corporations Act allows directors to continue to serve until reappointed or replaced.
